It is common for babies to go through "food refusal" phases, especially around 8 months or when teething. If your baby is suddenly crying in the high chair or turning away from food they previously enjoyed, try to keep mealtimes low-pressure. If they are in pain from teething, offer cold, soothing options like chilled fruits, buttermilk, or even cold vegetable sticks (like cucumber) that they can gnaw on safely under your supervision.
Remember, if your baby is recovering from an illness or a fever, a temporary dip in appetite is normal. If you notice a significant change—such as a decrease in wet diapers, signs of lethargy, or weight loss—consult your pediatrician immediately. Otherwise, continue offering healthy, familiar foods at regular intervals and avoid force-feeding. Often, these phases resolve on their own once the teeth sprout or the baby feels better.
