If you’re watching the clock and feeling stressed because your baby’s daytime naps seem to last exactly 30 minutes, you are not alone! It is a common source of anxiety for parents, but rest assured: short naps are developmentally normal for many infants.
As babies grow and become more aware of their surroundings, their sleep patterns often shift. While some babies may settle into a long, two-hour nap, others (even those who are happy, healthy, and gaining weight) may take several short 'power naps' throughout the day. Pediatricians often reassure parents that as long as your baby is meeting growth milestones and is not consistently overtired or irritable, there is no need for concern.

Trying to 'fix' a sleep pattern that is simply a reflection of your baby’s natural temperament can lead to unnecessary frustration. Instead, focus on your baby’s cues. If they are happy and thriving, embrace their unique rhythm. Some babies simply require less sleep than what is written in the textbooks!
