Are padded underwear recommended for potty training?

Many parents find that standard cotton underwear is more effective than padded versions for potty training. Padded underwear can sometimes slow down the learning process because they absorb moisture, preventing the child from feeling the wetness necessary to understand the cues. Furthermore, regular underwear is easier to wash and dry, whereas padded versions require more maintenance and don't necessarily prevent the need for a full cleanup during an accident.
