How can I assess if I have Diastasis Recti (DR) after pregnancy?

Diastasis Recti is the separation of abdominal muscles, which is common after pregnancy. You can perform a self-assessment by lying on your back with your knees bent and feet flat, then gently lifting your head and shoulders while pressing your fingers into your abdomen near the belly button. If you feel a gap between the muscles, you may have DR. However, your body is still healing in the first few months postpartum, so it is recommended to wait until at least 12–15 weeks postpartum for a more accurate check and to get a formal diagnosis from a physiotherapist or gynecologist.
