FAQ Activities 2-3 years

How can I encourage my toddler to play independently?

It is completely normal for children around 3-4 years old to crave constant interaction, even if they are capable of playing alone. To foster independence, set your child up with engaging, open-ended activities like kitchen-set roleplay or books, and encourage them to play for short, manageable intervals. It is helpful to set firm boundaries by not immediately responding to every request for attention while still remaining nearby to offer intermittent praise or answers. Remember that this is a developmental skill, and consistency over several months will help them grow more comfortable and satisfied with their own company.
