If cloth diapers retain an odor, a standard short wash cycle is usually insufficient. Try a two-cycle method: a pre-rinse cycle to remove solids, followed by a long main wash cycle (at least 45 minutes) at 40°C or higher using a high-quality enzyme-based detergent. Sun-drying is excellent for killing bacteria and removing odors, but if you live in a rainy climate, a portable clothes dryer can be a lifesaver.
