How can I soothe and heal sore, cracked nipples while breastfeeding?

Nipple cracks are common during the initial weeks of demand feeding. To heal them, ensure you are practicing a deep latch, as shallow latching is the most common cause. Apply a thin layer of purified lanolin or breast milk to the nipples after every feed, and allow them to air dry completely before covering. If cracks persist or show signs of infection, consult a lactation consultant or your pediatrician to check for underlying issues like thrush.
