How do I get my toddler to cooperate with a thermometer?
Most toddlers resist thermometers, and non-contact ones are unfortunately inaccurate. Ear thermometers like the Braun are the quickest option. Let the child play with the thermometer when healthy so it becomes familiar. Getting them to take a toy's temperature first and then doing theirs as a game helps. For very resistant toddlers, taking the reading during sleep works, though some still wake up. Rectal reading during diaper changes is the most accurate method for babies up to age 2.
