How do I manage the mental load of parenting and dealing with intrusive thoughts?

Intrusive, worrying thoughts about your baby's safety are a very common part of the postpartum transition and are often referred to by parents as 'living in a final destination movie.' To cope, try balancing these thoughts with intentional positive focus, such as practicing gratitude or focusing on your baby’s immediate well-being. If these thoughts feel overwhelming, therapy is an incredibly valuable tool that provides a neutral space to vent and learn healthy coping mechanisms. Remember to prioritize your own needs by carving out even small moments for yourself each day to help prevent burnout.
