Is it normal for my baby's sleep to be noisy or for them to have nasal congestion?
Newborns often make 'noisy' breathing sounds due to their narrow, developing nasal passages and the presence of residual amniotic fluid, which typically clears over time. If your baby is breathing well otherwise, has no fever, and is gaining weight, this is usually a normal part of growth. For mild congestion, a saline nasal drop (as directed by your pediatrician) before feeds can help clear the passages. If the sound is persistent or you are concerned, consult your pediatrician, but know that if your baby is growing well, their respiratory system is likely just maturing.
