Managing help taking extended leave

When a household helper takes extended leave beyond their standard monthly days off, it is generally not required to pay them for the time they are away. While some employers offer a day or two of paid leave as a gesture of goodwill, it is common practice to deduct pay for extended absences. Communication is key—be clear about your expectations regarding leaves and payment at the time of hiring.
