Should I give antibiotics to my toddler?
If your paediatrician recommends antibiotics, especially after multiple days of relapsing fever, trust their judgment or seek a second opinion. Antibiotics only work on bacterial infections, not viral ones. Blood and urine tests can confirm whether the infection is bacterial. The most important rule: always finish the full course. Stopping early can lead to antibiotic-resistant illness. Most toddlers will need antibiotics at some point and they recover well.
