FAQ SleepSelf-Care 0-3 months

What is the best way to handle 'overtired' days when the baby won't sleep?

Overtired days are exhausting, but remember that some days are simply difficult despite your best efforts. Tracking wake windows can help you identify early tired cues, such as yawning or rubbing eyes, before the baby reaches a state of distress. If the baby is struggling to settle, try rhythmic movement like rocking or walking, or using a sleep sack to create a cozy environment. When you feel yourself becoming overwhelmed, it is perfectly okay to hand the baby to another caregiver; sometimes a change in scent or touch is exactly what a baby needs to finally drift off.
