What is the difference between a dry sheet and a plastic sheet?

A dry sheet is designed for comfort and can be slept on directly; it is absorbent and breathable, making it ideal for the surface where the baby sleeps. A plastic sheet, on the other hand, is waterproof and meant to act as a barrier to protect your mattress or furniture from spills. Many parents layer them: a plastic sheet at the bottom for protection, topped with a dry sheet or cotton cloth for comfort.
