FAQ Childcare 0-3 months

What is the difference between a 'Jhapa' and a nanny?

The primary difference lies in the scope of care provided. A 'Jhapa' (postpartum caregiver) is specifically trained to support the mother’s recovery, including providing massages, ensuring the mother is fed and hydrated, and assisting with newborn care during the initial 2-3 months. A nanny's role is strictly focused on the child's care, such as feeding, bathing, and engaging the baby. Many parents find Jhapas essential for the first few months but transition to a professional nanny once they no longer require postpartum physical recovery support.
