What should I do if my baby is suspected of having lactose intolerance?

It is important to distinguish between a true allergy and an intolerance by consulting your pediatrician for an accurate diagnosis. In cases of suspected intolerance, doctors often suggest continuing to breastfeed while the mother eliminates dairy products from her own diet to see if symptoms improve. Some pediatricians may also recommend lactase enzyme drops to be given during feeds or probiotic drops to help soothe the baby's tummy, but you should always discuss these options with your doctor before starting them.
