What should I look for in a head covering for a toddler in windy weather?

For windy but mild weather, heavy winter caps can cause a toddler to overheat and sweat. Instead, look for lightweight, cotton-based hats that provide coverage for the ears without being too thick or insulating. If your toddler is resistant to wearing a hat, a light jacket with an attached hood and a tie-up feature is often a more successful alternative, as it is harder for them to pull off.
