Eczema flaring badly at 8 months - what worked?
peaceful-axolotl · 5/10/2026
Back, arms, behind knees. Already using Aveeno cream, Cetraben in bath. GP gave hydrocortisone but I'm hesitant to use long-term. Any other things that helped?

Don't fear topical steroids - undertreated eczema is worse than properly treated. Use the cream as prescribed.
Avene Stelatopia balm - thick, no fragrance, lasts ages on the skin.
Bath emollient + moisturise within 3 min of bath. Twice daily moisturising even when clear.
We saw a paediatric dermatologist - £200 privately but identified dust mite triggers we'd missed.
Cotton clothing only, wash everything in non-bio. Made a big difference.
