Are silicone plates safe for serving hot baby food?
Food-grade silicone plates are generally safe, but keep in mind that baby food should always be served lukewarm to avoid burning their sensitive mouths. Because silicone is a poor heat conductor, heat the food separately to the desired temperature before placing an appropriate portion onto the plate. If you find food leaves a residue or grease—especially if cooked in ghee—consider a quick rinse in boiling water or using stainless steel plates, which are non-reactive, easier to sanitize, and durable enough to withstand being dropped.
