FAQ HealthFeeding 0-3 months

Can I continue breastfeeding while I have a fever or cold?

Yes, you should continue to breastfeed even if you are ill. Your body creates antibodies to fight your infection, which pass directly into your breast milk to help protect your baby. You can take paracetamol if approved by your doctor, and if you are concerned about exposure, wear a mask while handling the baby and wash your hands frequently. Timing your medication immediately after a feed can also help reduce the amount of medication present in your milk for the next session.
