How can I maintain breastfeeding hygiene if I catch a fever or cold?

Breastfeeding is generally safe and encouraged even when you have a cold or fever, as your milk contains antibodies that protect your baby. To minimize the risk of infection, try wearing a mask while interacting with your baby, keep physical contact to a minimum, and practice frequent handwashing. If you prefer to avoid direct contact, pumping milk and having a caregiver feed the baby allows them to receive your antibodies while keeping them at a safe distance from your illness.
