FAQ Feeding 0-3 months

Can I pump to build a freezer stash early on?

While some parents like to keep a small "emergency" stash, experts often advise against excessive pumping in the first few weeks if the baby is latching well. Direct breastfeeding is the most efficient way to establish supply, and pumping adds significant work to your routine. If you do want to collect extra milk without extra effort, consider using a manual milk collector (like a Haakaa) on the opposite breast while feeding, which captures let-down that would otherwise be lost in breast pads.
