How can I encourage my baby to stand up safely without using a playpen?

To encourage standing, create a safe 'arena' by covering the floor with gym mats or foam mats to cushion potential falls. Allow the baby to pull themselves up on sturdy, stable furniture like sofas or chairs. Ensure that all sharp edges are covered with corner guards and remove any unstable items. It is natural for babies to fall while learning to balance; cushioning the floor is the best way to support their exploration while keeping them safe.
