FAQ Feeding 1-2 years

How can I help my 14-month-old move away from only eating mashed food?

If your toddler is struggling with textures, try to make your mashes slightly less smooth each week to slowly build their tolerance. Simultaneously, offer soft finger foods like steamed carrots, potatoes, or banana, and eat alongside them to demonstrate how to chew. Keep mealtimes positive and demonstrate the biting motion; it may take several attempts for them to get comfortable with textures and avoid gagging.
