Transitioning from purees to solid finger foods
You don't necessarily need to start with purees; babies can often handle soft solids from the very beginning. If you've started with purees, you can gradually increase the texture or move to soft, bite-sized pieces as your baby develops. A good rule of thumb is the 'two-finger test': if the food is easily squishable between your thumb and forefinger, it is likely safe for a baby to chew, even without teeth.
