How can I start night weaning my toddler?

Night weaning is a gradual process that requires consistency and patience. Pick a 3-5 day window where you have support, and when the child wakes, repeatedly explain that 'milk is for the morning' while offering water or comfort (like patting or hugging) instead. You may need to endure some crying for the first few nights as they adjust. Alternatively, some parents find success by slowly diluting night feeds with water over a week or two, gradually reducing the milk portion until they only offer water or nothing at all. Trust that your 1-year-old is capable of sleeping through the night without feeds.
