How can I successfully introduce a bottle to a breastfed baby?

Introducing a bottle to an exclusively breastfed baby takes patience. Many parents find success by having a caregiver other than the breastfeeding mother offer the bottle while the mother remains out of sight. Using a slow-flow or 'preemie' nipple and the 'paced bottle feeding' technique can help prevent the baby from getting overwhelmed. Consistency is key, and if the baby is already eating solids, you can also explore using a small open cup or a straw cup as an alternative to bottles.
