How do I deal with discomfort or biting during breastfeeding?

Biting is a challenging but common phase, often linked to teething or exploration. If you develop a painful milk bleb due to biting, an Epsom salt soak can help soothe the area. For general feeding discomfort or fussiness on one side, try varying your hold—such as using the football hold or reclining—to ensure the latch is comfortable. If a specific breast is sore, pumping or hand-expressing a small amount can relieve pressure and pain.
