How do I identify and manage cradle cap in my newborn?

Cradle cap appears as crusty or scaly patches on a baby's scalp and is very common. It is not related to CMPA. To treat it, avoid using oils, which can make the scaling worse. Instead, use a gentle, mild baby shampoo, and thoroughly comb the scalp with a soft brush while the hair is wet after a wash. Some parents find that applying a small amount of breastmilk to the scalp before washing helps loosen the flakes. It should clear up on its own with consistent, gentle care over a week or two.
