How soon can I direct feed after expressing milk?

If you are expressing milk to store for a later feed, it is generally best to wait at least one hour after pumping before attempting a direct feed. This allows enough time for your breasts to refill, ensuring your baby isn't frustrated by a lower volume of milk. If you must feed sooner than that, consider expressing only from one side so the other breast has had more time to produce milk for the direct feed.
