Is exposure to sunlight recommended for newborns?

Sunlight exposure is beneficial for newborns, especially for regulating their circadian rhythm and supporting Vitamin D synthesis. For very young babies, pediatricians often recommend brief periods of indirect morning sunlight—typically around 8 to 10 minutes before 8:00 AM. While sunlight through a window can provide some benefits, avoid direct, harsh midday sun as a newborn's skin is extremely delicate. If your baby has jaundice, follow your doctor's specific guidance regarding sunlight and phototherapy.
