Is it okay to use a pacifier for a newborn?

Most parents suggest waiting until you have a solid grasp of your baby's hunger, sleep, and comfort cues before introducing a pacifier, as using one too early can sometimes mask signs of hunger. It is important to feed on demand rather than using a pacifier to suppress hunger. If you do introduce one, look for orthodontic designs, and aim to limit use primarily to sleep to help with weaning later on.
