Is it safe to give electrolytes (ORS) to my child during summer?

For children who are playing actively in the heat, plain water is generally sufficient for regular hydration. Electrolytes (ORS) should be reserved for cases involving heavy sweating, prolonged physical activity, or clear signs of dehydration. To support daily hydration safely, offer cooling natural alternatives such as coconut water, homemade lemonade with a pinch of salt and jaggery, buttermilk (chaas), or water-rich fruits like watermelon and oranges. Always monitor your child for symptoms of dehydration, such as lethargy or decreased urination, and consult your doctor if you are concerned.
