Why does my breastfed baby have green stools?

It is quite common for exclusively breastfed infants to have green stools, which can be caused by the baby getting more 'foremilk' (the initial, lactose-rich milk) compared to 'hindmilk' (the richer, fattier milk). If your baby is happy, active, and meeting their weight milestones, a change in stool color is rarely a cause for concern. Additionally, if the baby has recently started multivitamins containing iron or if there are any shifts in the nursing routine, this can also impact stool color and consistency.
