Why does my toddler take so long to fall asleep at night?
It is quite common for toddlers to take 45–60 minutes to fall asleep, especially as they approach the transition of dropping their afternoon nap. If your child is consistently struggling, try observing their cues: if they are fighting the nap, they may be ready to drop it or shorten it. Pushing bedtime back by 15–20 minutes or ensuring they have significant, non-stroller physical activity earlier in the day can help build up sleep pressure. Remember that every family's rhythm is different; if your child is calm and safe, sometimes accepting that this is their current biological pace is the best way to preserve your own peace of mind.
