How can I deal with a toddler's sudden, severe lice infestation?

Dealing with lice is stressful but manageable. Use an anti-lice shampoo containing Permethrin, leaving it on for the directed time before washing. A very effective, albeit time-consuming, method is to use a fine-toothed steel lice comb to manually remove the tiny eggs (nits) and lice—press the eggs against the comb with your fingernail to kill them. Keeping the hair lightly oiled with coconut oil or incorporating garlic into the diet are also traditional methods that can help prevent them from sticking.
