Is it normal for a baby to have loose stools after starting solids?

It is quite common for a baby's bowel movements to change in frequency and consistency when they begin eating solid foods, especially with a fruit-heavy diet. Typically, you only need to be concerned if the baby has more than three loose stools in a 4-6 hour window. If they are otherwise hydrated, active, and feeding well, continue monitoring; if symptoms persist, foods like rice kanji, stewed apples, or stewed bananas may help firm up stools.
