FAQ ActivitiesHealth 6-12 months

Is it safe to teach a 6.5-month-old infant to swim in a pool?

It is generally safe to introduce babies to water as early as 6-7 months, but the focus at this age should be on gentle water acclimatization rather than 'learning' formal swimming strokes. Ensure the pool has clean, temperature-controlled water and use specialized swim diapers to maintain hygiene. Keep sessions brief, as infants can lose body heat quickly, and always prioritize close physical supervision. Several specialized centers offer parent-toddler aquatic programs which are designed to keep the experience safe and fun for infants.
